Quick answer: Multi-purpose halls host talks, dance classes, parties and meetings, often in a big hard room. Echo makes talks unclear and parties too loud. Panels high on the walls and on the ceiling cut the echo for every use, without getting in the way of tables or performances.

Key takeaways

  • Big hard halls echo for every event.
  • Panels high on walls and ceiling.
  • Out of the way of tables and stages.

Why halls echo

Hard floors for dancing, high ceilings and bare walls all bounce sound. A big room means each echo lasts longer. A full crowd adds to the noise.

Every use

Talks need clear speech. Classes need clear instructions. Parties need less roar.

Where panels go

Start with the rear wall, then the upper side walls and the ceiling. The rear wall sends late echo back to the stage. Treating it makes words clearer. See hall echo.

Tough

Fix panels high, away from balls, chairs and trolleys. That keeps them safe from knocks. Ceiling panels are always fixed mechanically.

Fire safety

Public halls need fire-safe panels. Our Flexi™ panels are fire safe. For fire papers and QP/PE sign-off, we coordinate with the owner's side and third-party consultants. See fire safety.

Install

Installs usually take a few hours to 1 to 2 days. They can be planned between bookings. We work Monday to Saturday in working hours; night and Sunday installs are possible with a surcharge, quoted case by case.

Stage area

Leave the stage back wall to suit performers. Treat the rear of the hall first. That is where the late echo comes from.

Special events

Fixed panels high on the walls cover every event. For extra treatment on event days, we can supply freestanding gobos or leaning panels. Keep exits and walkways clear.

What we see on real jobs

Church halls and community halls share the same problem: big hard rooms, many uses, and words that need to reach the back.
