Quick answer: Enrichment centres in malls face two problems: echo inside classrooms, and noise reaching neighbouring shops. Acoustic panels fix the echo so lessons are clearer. They do not stop noise reaching neighbours; that needs partitions to the slab, sealed doors and, for dance, floating floors.
Key takeaways
- Echo inside: acoustic panels.
- Noise next door: soundproofing.
- Plan both during fit-out.
Two different problems
Inside, hard rooms make lessons echoey. Outside, music, singing and footsteps travel to the shop next door. They need different fixes.
Inside: panels
Panels on the walls and ceiling of each classroom make lessons clearer. Teachers can speak at a normal level. See classroom echo.
Not sure what your room needs? Send us a photo on WhatsApp or request a free quote. We'll tell you how many panels, where they go and the price. See our acoustic panels for schools and recent projects.
Next door: soundproofing
Will panels stop noise reaching the next shop? No. That needs partitions up to the slab, solid sealed doors and, for dance studios, floating floors. See treatment vs soundproofing.
Plan in the fit-out
It is far cheaper to build good partitions at the start. Changing walls after opening means closing for works. See plan before design.
Mall management
Malls usually want drawings and fire information before any work. Our panels are fire safe and formaldehyde safe, and we provide method statements and risk assessments. For fire sign-off, we coordinate with the owner's side and third-party consultants. See building management.
What it costs
Classrooms usually need 8 to 14 panels each. At S$185 each installed, that is about S$1,480 to S$2,590. Soundproofing is building work and is quoted by a contractor.
What we see on real jobs
Echo inside and noise next door are two different jobs, so a mall centre often needs both panels and better walls.
Get a straight answer for your room
