Quick answer: Ceiling panels usually give the biggest improvement in large, tall or open spaces like restaurants, open-plan offices and halls, because the ceiling is the largest reflective surface. Wall panels are easier and cheaper to install and work best in smaller rooms, meeting rooms and studios. Many rooms need both: ceiling for overall echo, walls for flutter and clarity.

Key takeaways

  • Big or tall rooms: ceiling first.
  • Small rooms, meeting rooms, studios: walls first.
  • Walls are cheaper to install; ceilings often do more per panel in big rooms.

When do ceiling panels win?

  • Restaurants and cafés with concrete or exposed ceilings.
  • Open-plan offices.
  • Halls, gyms and churches.
  • Any room where the ceiling is the biggest bare surface.

How do the costs compare?

Wall panels are the simplest to install, from S$185 per panel supplied and installed with standard fixings, or about S$255 per m². Ceiling panels need more hardware and time, and tall ceilings need access equipment. Scaffold for high ceilings, night or Sunday work and custom sizes are quoted separately. See panel prices.

Should I do both?

Often, yes. A typical restaurant: ceiling clouds over seating plus panels on one long wall. A typical meeting room: two walls plus a ceiling cloud.
