Quick answer: You pay for three things: what is inside the panel, the finish on the outside, and the fitting. Cheap foam is light and thin, so it only catches high sounds. Good panels are thick and dense, wrapped in fabric, and fire-tested. Designer and custom panels cost more again for looks, not sound. Most rooms only need good standard panels.
Key takeaways
- Thickness and density decide how well a panel works.
- Fire safety and clean materials cost money.
- Fancy shapes and wood finishes are mostly about looks.
What is inside the panel
A panel works by letting sound in and trapping it. Thick, dense cores do that well. Thin foam lets most sound bounce back, so cheap foam only catches the high, hissy part. That is why a room with foam can still sound boomy. See foam vs acoustic panels.
The outside finish
Fabric that lets sound through, in a colour that will not fade fast, costs more than bare foam. Wood slats, printed art and custom shapes cost more again. They look great, but they are not needed to stop echo.

Fire safety and clean materials
Panels in shops, offices, schools and restaurants should be fire-tested, and should not give off strong chemical smells. Our Flexi™ panels are fire safe and formaldehyde safe. Cheap online panels often have no test papers at all. See are acoustic panels fire-safe.

The fitting
Panels must stay on the wall for years, in humid Singapore weather, and ceiling panels must never fall. Proper fixings and a trained team cost money, but they protect people and walls. Ceiling panels are always fixed mechanically, never glued.
Where the money really goes
For most rooms, the big cost is the number of panels, not the price per panel. The best way to save is to put fewer panels in better spots, not to buy cheaper panels. About 20–40% of the walls is enough in most rooms.
What we charge
Our panels cost from S$185 each supplied and installed (50 mm, standard fixings included), about S$255 per m² on the wall. Supply-only is from S$120 per panel. Scaffold for high ceilings, night or Sunday work and custom sizes are quoted separately. See acoustic panel prices in Singapore.
How to tell a good panel in 30 seconds
Press it: a good panel is firm and springs back. Tap it: it should sound dull, not hollow. Check the thickness: 25 mm or more. Ask for papers: fire test and formaldehyde or emissions results. Ask for the NRC (a score from 0 to 1 for how much sound a panel soaks up) of that exact thickness.
When paying more makes sense
Printed artwork for a brand wall, custom shapes for a feature ceiling, or matching a rare timber colour in a church. These are design choices. Pay for them when the look matters, not because you think the sound will be better.
What we see on real jobs
Tap a cheap foam panel and a good panel side by side. One sounds like a cardboard box, the other sounds dead. That is the difference you hear in the room.
